The facilities are great, clean and fairly modern. The staff are amazing and the views are fantastic!
Rooms: The room was spacious and provided good comfort. Nearby activities: They have on site activities which could be booked from the reception and the staff were very friendly. Safety: Felt safe as I recognised the effort they put in their safety measures. And the details they put in there safety measures were clear, even provided information on what to do and where to go in case of an emergency. Food & drinks: The restaurant provided good food services and I enjoyed the food I ate. Noteworthy details: The prompt response to concerns was exceptional, they have a system where you can load your concerns relating to the facilities and their turnaround time was less than 30 minutes. This was very impressive.
Safety: The shower/bath can be very slippery and one should be very careful to get in or out. We both ended up with bruises 😒 Walkability: Very nice trials and stunning views. Food & drinks: Very nice restaurant and shop ... take enough money in your card ... no cash.

The perfect place for holidays with younger children. Our kids are 5 & 7 and they loved it here. Playground with jumping pillow, putt putt, fully equipped games room, heated swimming indoor pool with slides, a dam with paddle boats, hikes, and even a fun little games room at the restaurant when you don’t feel like cooking. We will definitely be back. Not to mention a dinosaur museum in golden gate itself less than 10 minutes away. What more can one ask for?
Pools and games were perfect for kids
This is a wonderful weekend/holiday destination. It has plenty of amenities for old and young. Lovely well served accommodation units. Warm water pool, walking trails in the most beautiful mountain setting. Recommend this spot.

It was peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful views and scenery. The chalet had clearly been freshly renovated and had a modern, clean, and comfortable feel. Overall, it was a lovely and relaxing stay.

We were in 3B . Kiara Lodge is in a beautiful location- between the stunning mountains of East Freestate. Near Clarens , which is an art paradise, great restaurants , and interesting shops. In connection to 3B: a lovely chalet, but no mountain view. So rather choose 2B, or 1B. The only concern was there is not 1 cupboard or space to pack your own groceries in! Who design these chalets, really?! And the fireplace emits a lot of smoke into the living area if you don't leave the vent wide open. But NO instructions. The bird life is extraordinary beautiful. The rabbits create a rustic atmosphere. The warm swimming pool is great . Remember , we were there in August. With no outside swimming pool, I think in Summertime you'll miss an outside swimming pool. The surrounding area is great to explore: Golden Gate reserve is very near with several walking trails, inter dinosaur museum, and a great 2km zipline with fantastic guides. We will definitely go there again. The staff at Kiara Lodge were extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms: I think 2B or 2C will be ideal

Absolutely amazing lodge if you love outdoor activities or want a scenic getaway as there is a beautiful mountain hike, rock climbing, gorge swing and many more. There’s also a heated indoor pool. We stayed in a 3-bedroom apartment and there was a fireplace and braai area which is great as it gets quite cold at night. The rooms are good and the kitchen is well equipped. I would appreciate better heaters in the rooms as they are small and smell burned sometimes. Rooms: Good. Nearby activities: Many activities on the property itself. Safety: Very safe area. Food & drinks: Nothing halal for miles so make sure to take a lot of food if you have this dietary restriction
It was our 1st time staying here and it was amazing . I have twin toddlers and they had the best time every with everything that the property had to offer . The staff where kind and so helpful Every was very clear and well kept 👌 We will most definitely be back soon

3 stars for the rooms as they are currently under renovation, replacing all the thatch roofs with corrugated iron roof sheets. The views are scenic, A lot of activities to choose from, rowing, padel and hiking. There is also a lot of activities for the kids. Whilst we went in the winter and mostly used our stay as a base camp for all our adventures around clarens and beyond, we will definitely be back when the weather is warmer to fully enjoy all that the lodge has to offer
The staff and management were not flexible and helpful. Our rooms were not allocated the way we requested. We had to wait till 4pm on check in.

We stayed in one of the self catering units. It was lovely, quite and very very neat and clean. The staff was excellent. Reception staff and gate staff were 10/10. I will definitely go again. Nearby activities: Ons het Sugar and Cinnamon besoek, waar ons heerlike gevulde pannekoeke geniet het. Ons het die Dinasaurus, Kgoidumodumo besoek. Dit was ongelooflik interressant. Die mooooooiste uitsig en fotos geneem in Golden Gate. Verder het ons die pad gevat oor die Maluti berge en kon nie help om in verwondering God se skepping in te neem nie. Safety: Ons was baie veilig

The scenic view of the mountains, friendly stuff, and lots of facilities and activities to do.
So much to do, so little time! If you have young children, Kiara Lodge is a must. Heated indoor pool, jungle gyms, indoor playrooms, putt-putt, trampolines, a padel and a tennis court and hiking trials. Just across the road you have quad biking, paintball shooting, archery, pole climbing. Close to Golden Gate and Clarens for day trips.

Kiara Lodge has beautiful facilities, The villas which have Fire places don't have gas heaters, make sure to buy enough firewood should you have a fire place. This obviously places the burden on the individual to pay for heating the room ,so next time I would prefer a room with a Gas heater instead. The food served at the restaurant is of high quality , well done to the chef's 👌. The waiters dont really understand their own menu well and service management aren't accomodating like your typical 4 or 5 star rating places. Make sure to always return your towels to the facility you borrowed it for pool use-since it is an expectation ,I was told you have to bring it back and not just leave it at your villa for the cleaning staff to collect. Rooms are cleaned daily, however towels arent changed. The Car port allocated to each villa can be abit small if you have a SUV / Double Cab. It was still however a pleasant stay with enjoyable and amazing facilities. Definitely a place I would recommend to go.

Rooms: All you need for a good relaxing stay. Nearby activities: Maluti Mountain Adventures worth every cent,what a trip. Paddle boats on the premises were good fun. Safety: Very secure , security is good at the entrance and exit and units. Walkability: Beautiful layout tar toads everywhere with paths. Nicely layed out and marked bush paths for a stroll. Food & drinks: Restaurant food was excellent and well priced. Noteworthy details: I would recommend Kiara Lodge for a quiet relaxing stay.

Wow this was an amazing wonderfully break a way for us. And I received a free spa treatment that was fantastic. The resort is clean and neat. The unit was cleaned daily and when we arrived at night it smell clean and fresh inside. I just wish I could visit it when there is snow on the maintains that would be a beautiful experience
Awesome scenery
We wanted to check in some 1.5 hrs before 3.00pm & this proved difficult for receptionist staff who stipulated that there were hard & fast rules about early check in. Asked to talk to the manager who made receptionist phone cleaning staff to verify room was ready which it was & we were able to check in. Agoda made out this was a 5 star hotel & price was slashed from R6000 to R1500 but this was a 3 star hotel.

The location, the activities
Had actually booked a trip to Tashkent but because of the unhinged antics of the Fanta-faced effwit currently occupying the White House, the trip had to be moved to September, so settled for Clarens instead. Kiara Lodge is a largely self-catering resort situated about fifteen minutes from the overly-twee town of Clarens. The lodge is beautifully nestled between some gorgeous mountains in the Free State. It’s also a quick five-minute drive to the Golden Gate Highlands National Park with its awesome new Kgodumodumo Dinosaur Museum (do visit – it’s amazing, especially for children). We booked a one-bedroom apartment for two people. It was large and roomy, with an equally huge balcony (almost wrap-around) with barbecue facilities – very impressive. Bathroom was great as well with a fantastically hot shower. We didn’t make much use of the kitchen utensils but there seemed to be just about everything you’d need for cooking. There’s also a fireplace which warms the place nicely (there was a cold snap during our April/May visit). The apartments are very clean and are serviced daily by the wonderful staff – with plenty of fresh towels on hand. We chose a stay with breakfast included at the on-premises restaurant - not a good option to be honest. Food was somewhat limited and unexciting in options and could charitably be described as “wholesome”. It was fresh though but very dull after the third day. You’d be better off taking your own. We also had one particularly surly and lugubrious character at breakfast who served us sometimes – if ever there was someone who had something of the night about him… Outside, there are plenty of hiking trails – one of which leads to some rather lacklustre and ill-kept San paintings on the property. This is the place for early-morning walks and deep silences. There’s also a great heated indoor swimming pool on the premises but the little tykes were like greyhounds straining at the slips. If you like your swimming environment to be hot, sweaty and shouty, this is just the place for you. Fortunately, it rained one day and we were able to use the pool – just the once. Would love to have used it every day. The resort has quite a number of properties crammed into a pretty small space so If you’re anti-social and claustrophobic (like me), try and get a room at the edges of the resort. These tend to make you feel less like you’re residing in a Midrand apartment block. Also, not sure if it was because of the long weekend but check-in was strictly at 3pm so don’t bother getting there early – lots of families with grumpy children crowding around reception demanding rooms. Kiara Lodge was a wonderful stay and one I’d quite happily return to – soon I hope.
Our stay at Kiara lodge was magical. The serene surroundings, the beautiful mountains and the helpful, friendly and extremely sufficient staff made our stay very enjoyable. Also the staff at the Bliss Spa is amazing and they have magic hands, we had a relaxing massage. They have the Midas touch.
The indoor pool with 2 life guards at all times. The games room was another hit for our 2 year old. The restaurant was so sweet giving us the wine room to use for our special occasion. The food was great and the kids loved their chicken livers

Kiara lodge is such a beautiful place , the facilities are of such great quality, the place is so serene and clean, we just want to go back already. The restaurant food is yum yum, the well thought out interior design is so eye catching, the lighting is so unique and interesting. The restaurant team Theo and Elias provided such great service. We thoroughly enjoyed gorge swing (although I was soooo scared) with David and Patrick, these guys ROCK, they are helpful, encouraging and warm n take insta worthy pics. Rock climbing was a nice challenge and the team Sergeant n Lea kept cheering us on, it was sooo good. The onsite store Traders is full of necessities and Esther is so warm n friendly. The fireplace makes the rooms all the more cozy - the putt putt golf balls are so quirky…. I could go on and on talking about how great this place is…. The kids just couldn’t have enough of the games room, putt putt, tennis, big chess this place has activities for days for the entire family…… I had a minor incident the day before leaving and the team was so quick to attend Donald from the first aid team was so calm n collected when we were all scared and Jenna from management kept checking in. On the day of checking out the team support well BEYOND my expectations especially Moses, Gem Gem, Donald, Karen n Brandon kept coming to check on me, it took all the stress out of this incident. They continued to check up on me until I got home. Their service was just outstanding. I could go on and on about how great this place is you just have to see for yourself. The entire team provides such excellent service would be back in a HEARTBEAT …….

There were plenty of activities to keep the kids occupied. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hiking in the resort was awesome. Padel court facility available.
I first called to inquire and the lady I spoke with was helpful and friendly . On the day of the appointment she called to confirm. The service was wonderful,I will definitely visit again.
From day one, At Reception the service was on another level. The environment was so refreshing, family friendly , even the rooms so clean. The people so Friendly and calm. Not just only those who work there, but also visitors,, security.. Best experience, I'll go back anytime.

Jolie structure d'ensembles de groupes de plusieurs chalets accolés dispersés sur des pentes. Une terrasse. aménage. Belle vue. PEU APPRéCIé ! : Notre chalet d'1 chambre avait une tres grande salle de bain pour une chambre petite sans porte et une cuisine/salon peu grande sans table pour manger (sinon terrasse). Du fait de la configuration des groupes de chalets et de l'aménagement intérieur, le barbecue du voisin a largement parfumé notre chambre (et avons entendu toute leur soirée, mais cela dépend des voisins ...) Piscine au final pas très agréable (pourtant période hors scolaire et hors haute saison) Il s'agit plutôt d'un ensemble orienté pour les familles. Reste quand même cher pour ce que c'est (notamment comparé à d'autres structures des environs où nous avons séjourné.)

The lodge has great facilities for kids , the family unit was clean, however there was visible mold on the bathroom ceiling, ideally an extractor fan should be installed. The service at the restaurant wasn't great at all even though it was only partially full, hence on day 2 we were left unattended for 10+ minutes and left prior to sit down.
