Beautiful resort, clean, beautiful views, happy bunnies 🐰 chilling all over the place, plenty of activities for the kids. On site restaurant serves a variety of delicious meals, attentive staff, overall a Lovely weekend away!

The lodge is very child oriented, lots to do for the little ones, my kids had a great time! I personally loved the views, the all-in-one setup as well as the close proximity to both Clarens town and the National Park. I also loved that I was able to hike within the premises and the pedal boats were a great treat!
Beautiful place hidden in lush bushes and landscapes. The bunnies 🐰 were the cutest 😍. The self catering unita were incredibly clean and no issues with inserts in the units. The Entertainment sites were great especially the game area and putt putt. Swimming area was good but could have a second location so that we not too packed.
Overall great experience, amazing view, the food at the restaurant is 5/10 but overall decent

Nearby activities: There is rock climbing, hiking (different hiking trails with different levels of difficulty ) quad biking, archery, paintball shooting (when i left they were still preparing the paintball area to accommodate people shooting each other as i only shot designated targets) and inside activities like tennis, mini golf, etc. Safety: There safety is nice as some parts are enclosed by fences gates and u can only move around with a code they have given you. Walkability: You can walk all around and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Food & drinks: Personally we never bought any food as they were quite pricey and we cooked for ourselves , but I am sure they must be good. Noteworthy details: Bring outdoor clothes and accessories like hiking shoes and water bottles. If you get lost or you're looking for a place where you have no idea it is , just ask anyone that passes by and they'll kindly help you.
I liked the views, the facilities and how friendly the staff is. My kids enjoyed it as there was a lot to do on site.
The chalets
We stayed here as a family of 3 over the new years week. Was a beautiful family resort. Clean rooms which are serviced daily and grounds are beautifully maintained. Tranquil surroundings and many activities to keep little 1s and adults entertained. Overall a lovely stay. My only issue were the lounge furniture which either need changing or to be re upholstered, it feels old and grubby.

Heated pool so you can swim all year round. Excellent facilities for kiddies, indoors and outdoors. Clean and comfortable accommodation. Worth the drive, with scenic surroundings.
Went as a family and thoroughly enjoyed it! Chalet and facilities were clean and well maintained. The resort itself is beautiful. Pools are indoor, heated and enough space for all guests - perfect. Loads of activities for kids. Easy hiking trails. Chalets are fully equipped with a big balcony, braai area and perfect for relaxation. The location is perfect and surrounding nature is breathtaking. Clarens and Golden Gate National Park is is a few minutes away in opposite directions. Cons - we should have stayed longer :)
Fantastic holiday destination. The resort is a must for a family vacation. Something for everyone.. from the little toddlers, kids ,teenagers and Adults. Fantastic facilities in spectacular location. Staff ready to assist, kids programme is great. indoor pool and local hikes of varying difficulties. You actually don’t have to leave the Lodge at all - can spend holiday right here! Even a spa for those that need a time out😬 Rooms: Great. Serviced and all that you need. Clean and relative new. Nearby activities: Local hikes and drives through SanParka Golden Gate Reserve. Clarens for more quirky shopping and stocking up on supplies . Safety: Feel very safe here, even happy to have to kids walk around the lodge with friends alone. Walkability: Some small local walks and then others further out for the more advanced. Caters for all fitness levels for sure. Noteworthy details: It’s like God was showing off when he made this areas of the world. Must have painted each stone by hand .

All I can say is Wow, Wow, Wow! Amazing accommodation, spectacular views and a mere 10 minutes drive to the beautiful town of Clarens, this is place whether you just want to unwind or for the whole family to be constantly entertained by all the facilities. A big thank you to my in-laws for inviting us here.

We booked a accommodation here in 17-19 October 2025 and I must say it is one of the best resorts we have ever been too in South Africa.The accommodation was clean and tidy and amazing.It was the weekend of the wine festival in Clarens so the resort was full.I reccomend booking in advance as the resort is very popular.The views of the sandstone mountains of Clarens and the national park look magical at sunset and the mountains are all around the resort.The grass was so green as you will see in pictures.There is a indoor pool and every unit has a fire place for those cold days and nights.There is also a shop where you can get anything for self catering as the resort is self catering,there is also the Maluti restaurant with great food.There is also bushman art to see on the resort and beautiful hikes.All together it was a great weekend away and only 3hours 40min drive from Gauteng it's a great weekend getaway.I would highly recommend Kiara lodge!

Kiara Lodge was an amazing place complimentary to the breathtaking surroundings!!! Family friendly and the staff is just amazing.
Our stay at Kiara was very pleasant. Unit was very clean and tidy. We receive an access pass that allows for use of many of the resorts facilities at no extra cost. Unit was cleaned daily by staff members. Walking trails was well marked, and even after heavy rain we were able to do all walking trails. Pedalboating was fun, but the boat we used could do with some maintenance as the steering rudder was a little loose... Still worked well enough to enjoy an 1 hour pedal. Will definitely go again...

Easily accessible from Johannesburg and nestled in the Maluti mountains Kiara is an absolute gem. The unit was well appointed. Crisp white linen and comfortable bed. The facilities are well maintained and the hikes marked. The staff from reception to departure were so friendly and helpful. I would give the wine tasting a skip.

We loved the pool, the play room, the tennis court, the massage was also good for me and the food in the restaurant was delicious. What stood out for me was the restaurant setting braai fire for us and giving us free pap and gravy. We had a great time and the place was breath taking.
Thecweek we spent here was good, nice heated pool and playroom for the kiddies.
Kiara Lodge is a beautiful and peaceful getaway, perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The surroundings are serene, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The lodge is clean and well-maintained, making it a lovely place to unwind. When we arrived, the TV wasn’t working, but it was fixed by the second night and we only stayed for 2 nights in total. It would have been nice to have a small gesture to make up for the inconvenience, especially as we had an older guest with us who couldn’t do much else. Most activities come at an additional cost, but overall, it’s a wonderful and refreshing escape from the city.

A very beautiful setting. A place where peace and beauty reside hand in hand. We felt recharged and refreshed after our stay.
We were extremely happy with our stay and will return. We have a 1 year old, so the kids activities were amazing and fun.
Great place to visit if you have, kids plenty for them to do. For adults there is the SPA and the small town of Clarence is down the road, which will fulfill any shopping needs.

Lovely place! Everything you need right there. Restaurant, shop, indoor heated pool, gym and spa. And cute bunnies running around the resort. Rooms: Lovely room with a huge en-suite bathroom and a fireplace. Nearby activities: An onsite gym offers a great variety - first experience with a self powered treadmill. We had a massage at the spa and it was one of the best I've had. Safety: Very safe. Walkability: You park and walk everywhere. Food & drinks: Delicious and unusual lamb curry pizza - definitely worth a try.

Great place to relax & get away from the city life. It's about 1 hour drive from Bergview & about 15m drive from town. Nice facilities and activities for everyone regardless of age. Splash pools for toddlers, slides for kids. This is in a heated indoor pool. Games room for kids & adults which includes table soccer, pool table, table tennis, mini jungle gym (for toddlers), arcade games. Outdoor play area includes swings, trampolines and much more. The hiking trails are moderate, if you are a beginner this could be a minor problem at times. There were lots of other activities available: gorge swing, archery, pedal, tennis, quad biking & put put (mini golf). Also a day spa on site. The restaurant have great food, especially the breakfast waffle (with scrambled eggs, bacon and mushrooms). Service at the restaurant needs a little work. We had to request things that should have been brought with the meal. One day syrup was given with the meal and another day ni syrup (The waffle supposed to come standard with the meal). Overall a nice relaxing weekend. Will definitely go back Rooms: We stayed in a private room which was suitable for myself and I. The room had a queen sized bed, TV, small kitchen (including fridge/freezer combo, Gas stove, microwave, kettle & sink), fire place. Nearby activities: Lots of activities on site. Quad biking, fishing, put put (mini golf), archery, indoor heated pool, games room (toddler jungle gym), pool table, soccer table, table soccer, arcade games. Outdoor play ground

This is a beautiful mid week break for the whole family. All my children and grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the facilities. It is a nestle in a beautiful setting between the mountains. At our beautiful chalet, time stood still. No really the big clock on the wall wasn't working. We really enjoyed our time here. Loads to do. My favourite especially was the oil fondue at the restaurant. Such a fun experience. We also enjoyed time at the dam and bunnies. The only thing I wish for was proper bowls. We had plastic bowls in our unit. Not a big fan of the plastics. Other than that fireplace was great everything else too.
We loved the nature and views. However there is a lot of rubbish in and around the lodge especially at the dam on route to the zipline.

A great resort. Top ranking for the kids entertainment facilities. But remember parents you are responsible for your children - not resort staff. The resort provides facilities. Parents are responsible for behavior & consequence.

Facilities were great but not front desk - refused an hour earlier access which I requested only to take a meeting whilst inside - I did not request access to the rooms as they advised me it was still being cleaned which I did understand.
The reception staff was friendly and the bed was comfortable.

What an epic get away. Such a beautiful location! JR Tolkien who wrote Lord of the Rings would visit the Golden Gate area when he was a kid. He got a lot of inspiration here and I can understand why. Such beautiful mountains and landscapes one can stare out into the distance all day. Kiara lodge staff are incredibly helpful and I can’t say enough about Danie the manager. Always making sure we were looked after and had all our needs met. They have a tennis court and even have a Padel court which we enjoyed. The Body Bliss spa was a highlight for me. What a treat. The room was warm and the massage was delightful. They have wonderful amenities for the kids as well as an indoor waterpark! The kids are already asking when we can come back. I can highly recommend Kiara Lodge!

Although it was mid-winter, the location, facilites and staff warmed my heart. A number of years have passed since I was last at Kiara Lodge. The enhancements, such as the indoor heated pool and gym, have added further value to what is a first class venue.

An amazing lodge located in the heart of the mountains. Amazing views all round with facilities to keep the entire family entertained. There is a great restaurant on site with fair prices. Rooms: Our room had a main bedroom with a private bathroom. There was a second room with 2 3/4 beds. There was a bathroom, lounge and kitchen as well.
Great facility, very professionally run. Rooms are clean and spacious. If you have an infant, a cot is provided upon request. The pool area is to die for especially in winter with the 2 Jacuzzis. The kids' play area is well kept and spacious enough for smaller and older kids. Service is top-notch, room service daily. Clean linen daily. Overall, it was a great vacation! Safety: Very safe, and friendly staff. Walkability: Great hiking spots. Food & drinks: Be sure to bring your own food as the shop inside is a bit on the expensive side. There's a restaurant on site for those days or nights you wish to relax.
Heated indoor pool is always a win
I forfeited my fee for archery + paintball because LEAP doesn't operate on Fridays. I. didn't know that, and no one told me before I made the booking. I only found out on the day. The rooms were OK, 3 out of 5. The staff was generally helpful. Obviously, some staff were friendlier than others. Pool was great. The gym was small but I was happy that it was there and it was clean, 4 out of 5. The location amazing, the views are out of this world. Rooms: They were OK. Secpic tank was not clean. Water was brown after flushing. Rooms were clean. Great room service. Fire place + air con 👌🏽 Nearby activities: Couldn't enjoy them. Safety: I felt safe the whole time. Walkability: Very. Food & drinks: Expensive but available.. Noteworthy details: Don't expect to be informed about the place or activities. You have to make sure to ask and double-check before and after booking.
Kiara Lodge is beautiful, relaxing, well maintained and has alot to do. We spent part of our honeymoon there 28yrs ago.. And it's changed alot but was lovely. Highly recommend Kiara Lodge.
