Cayley Mountain resort is by far the best place to stay in the berg. The units are beautifully done and it's so comfortable. The children love the access to the private splash pool as well as everything else the resort has to offer in terms of entertainment. We love visiting and will definitely keep returning.

The kids loved the space, us adults enjoyed that. Had a few maintenance issues but the house care taker (his name) MONDAIE was sensational. Came late night as the bottom unit flooded, he cleaned up the floor fixed the toilet fixings and fixed the hot water issue too. He also came the next day and detached the old toilet fixings and changed out parts with new ones and fixed it all. Thank you to MANIE as well for doing all he did to accommodate us with these issues of the house and offered us great accommodating options. He also helped us meet the timeshare team to discuss further options as we enjoyed the stay thoroughly. We had a late Checkout option and it changed the whole day in a great way. Something to be offered on Sundays if no one is booked in, I think that money model will work. We went back down to the inflatable park got all day tickets, hired canoes, paddle boards and boats. We checked out at 2pm and went for lunch at the restaurant with 6 kids and 4 adults. So an extra R3000 spent without paying a late checkout fee so it's something we do for our bungalows in Rarotonga (Dorothy Muri Beach Bungalows). Stunning team overall, staff are super helpful all over the resort. Thank you. We will be back 100% for the manor house.
This is the most tranquil developed spot one can find anywhere. It offers peace and any degree of isolation a visitor may desire, while excellent amenities are plentiful for a day of socialising, de-stressing or playing. The rooms do need airconditioning though to complete the comfort served.

Oh the Cayley mountain was such a restful and peaceful place. One that gave an amazing experience for me and my family. The rooms are modern and spacious. The service from the staff was to die for, Mbali at the restaurant was such a great waiter and informative on what to offer! Only bummer which is a challenge beyond Cayley is the potholes driving there and that gravel road to the destination. But it is one that once you get to Cayley you’d forget about the bumpy road!

The unit we were in was quite private and we enjoyed the splash pool. And the convenient store was very helpful with smaller items we needed for cooking. The restaurant and spa were equally great. We left the property very relaxed and happy.

Im writting this review while still checked in. The rooms and location is perfect but the staff is rude. We are checking out on monday, we went out this morning to have breakfast and came back to our room door not opening. Only to find out they thought we checked out. If you want peace of mind rather book a self catering unit otherwise you will regret it. I can go on the whole day about pathetic service we have received in this place.
We were just day visitors. However the hotel and chalets looked exceptional. Beautiful view across the dam and hills. Will definitely like to come stay there sometime. Nearby activities: Several outdoor games located at the beach club. Noteworthy details: The only remark will be that the access road can be upgraded along certain parts of the road - several potholes.

Incredible... Absolutely incredible... The scenes just take your breath away... An inexplicable feeling and site that you just have to see and experience for yourself... A ton of amenities on site, so good cocoon for the weekend with family and loved ones... Can book room(s) or a whole villa, really depends on what you're looking for... Rooms: Very clean and kept rooms... Excellent service if you have any issues... The room we had only had a fan and no aircon, not complaining though... Nearby activities: Boat bruises around the dam in the vicinity, quad bikes, water activities, a warm pool with the best view you'll ever get, miniature golf, a spa... Please see website for exhaustive list... Safety: Place of save and secure, if sharing a villa with others, you're given a card that opens the communal doors and your designated room (which has its own patio and bathroom, so worry not...) Walkability: Most things are within walking distance, however, some wheels will make the experience much more enjoyable and convenient... Food & drinks: Restaurants and store on site, mainly at the reception building... Then there's another store at the beach club...

We stayed at Cayley Lodge for the first time last week and absolutely loved it. The staff were all friendly, the cleaners were exceptionally friendly (they deserve a special mention!), and everything was spotless – seriously, not a speck out of place. The grounds are beautiful, the view is unreal, and the whole place just has that calm, “you can finally exhale” feeling. They even surprised my wife for her birthday – completely unexpected and incredibly thoughtful. They didn’t have to, but they went out of their way to make it special, and that really says everything about the heart of this place.

Cayley Mountain Resort is honestly one of the most breathtaking places we’ve ever been to. From the stunning views to the peaceful atmosphere, everything was perfect from start to finish. A huge thank you to Thembi at reception — her warmth and friendliness made us feel so welcome. The thoughtful birthday surprise with balloons and champagne in our rooms done by Nombuso was such a lovely touch and made our stay extra special. And we have to mention the pool at our unit — absolutely the best thing ever! We used it non-stop and loved every minute of it. We couldn’t have asked for a better getaway and can’t wait to come back again. Thank you, Cayley Mountain Resort — you made our celebration unforgettable!

Really nice place definitely a must do. I would recommend that they improve food at the Bell & Wistle. Making delious and simple food is not difficult especially because you have everything you need wood fired oven, fryer, gas grill etc. I believe you need a better chef to draw up a reduced, more flavoursome menu.

My husband and I are currently at the lodge as I type this review, we check out tomorrow and I must say we are extremely impressed. The resort is such a beautiful place, everything about Cayley screams luxury vacation. Resort has so much to do from fun activities to restaurants. We haven't left the resort from check in. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. We are having an amazing time and already planning our next visit! Rooms: We booked a double room with patio it is beautiful & spacious for a couple. The bathrom is huge which is absolutely awesome. Bathroom has a shower and a tub. Nearby activities: The resort has so many activities to offer. Multiple water activities to choose from, archery, paintball,quad biking,tennis cort,jacuzzi,pools,put put and lots more. The chocolate bar is a few km away from resort. Safety: Cayley Mountain Resort is extremely safe. Resort is gated & fenced. Rooms have access cards to enter. Safe undercover parking for vehicles. Walkability: The room we booked was walking distance close to reception and nearby activities. We only drove to the beach club. Food & drinks: The Bell and Wistle restaurant is a lovely chill restaurant. The food was also quite nice. Service from staff was also good. There is also the steam cafe, the view cafe by the infinity pool and another restaurant at the beach club
The scenery
We loved the tranquility of the resort, with stunning views of the dam and surrounding mountains. The facilities were excellent — from the paddle courts and the beautiful infinity pool to the pool table area, where we even got to enjoy watching the Springboks’ game live. We also thoroughly enjoyed the spa on the property, which added to the relaxing experience.

Rooms: Excellent. Nearby activities: Visited the Drakensberg Boys choir show, Eskom Pump station, Bata factory, Chocolate factory, piggly Wiggly and all the great amenities at the resort. Safety: 24 hour on site. Great security. However lighting in car park shelters need to be better lit to assist night parking. Perhaps the pole supports should be painted white. Difficult to maneuvre at night. Walkability: Ample grassed areas to exercise and relax. Food & drinks: Stayed in self catering units. Well appointed and also had meals at restaurant. Excellent. Noteworthy details: Reception staff Diya and colleagues were very helpful and very efficient.

The rooms were clean, spacious, beautiful interior and friendly staff. The experience with quad bikes was excellent.
